Links between mental health and sleep problems - 1 of 7 low energy during the day

The World Economic Forum (2018) indicated that mental health disorders are on the rise globally in every country and could cost the global economy up to $16 trillion between 2010 and 2030.
But it's not all ‘doom and gloom’ as we talk more about this topic, more support is available for those who struggle and also there is a better understanding of what good mental health actually means in a practical way in our daily lives.
Did you know that each year there is a theme for World Mental Health Day?
This year it falls on Saturday, 10th October and the theme is ‘Mental Health for all - greater investment greater success’.
Of course, the theme doesn’t guarantee that we actually get help every time, but collectively we can help and support each other to improve areas of our life that might be affecting this situation negatively the most.
I’ve worked with clients who have had mental health challenges because when we don’t sleep well at night, it directly impacts our entire life.
Over the next 7 days, I’ll be sharing the top 7 links between mental health and sleep problems that I see most often.
Of course, every mental illness is different but there are some commonalities when it comes to the signs and links between these two. Please always seek help rather than self-diagnose.
Let's start with the physiological part of The Sleep Deep Method@.
Low energy during the day
This can present in two ways. Either sleeping too much or being unable to carry out everyday activities and tasks like work or even as simple as self-care.
High quality and regular sleep have an important restorative function in recharging the brain and the body at the end of each day. Sleep allows us to reset every day and helps to optimize functioning.
