In today’s video, we’ll talk about how to pick the best time frame for sleep. Over the years this is another question that I get asked about frequently. There seems to be a lot of confusion about how you can figure out the correct sleep time for you.
I’ll share with you my answer to this question that came up during the live sleep coaching session in the Sleep Skills for Life Programme. This way you can see how I walk clients through picking the appropriate sleep time frame depending on their lifestyle.
To train yourself to sleep well and optimise your sleep truly, figuring out what time should you go to bed and wake up is a real foundational piece. Without this, it’s really unlikely that you’ll sleep consistently well both in terms of quality and quantity of sleep.
The sleep time frame you work with is not about perfection, and over time the time frame for your sleep will shift. The reason for this is that we all adjust our way of living over the years. My sleep time frame is different to what it used to be but it really works with the current lifestyle I have. And that is one of the important things to bear in mind when you pick the actual time frame for your sleep.
The best and worst time to sleep is also part of this conversation with clients. The best time to go to bed and wake up will help us figure out how to optimise your sleep and help you to truly overcome your long-term insomnia and sleep problems.
Another part of this conversation is about how you can go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time, so that you really optimise your sleep for many years to come. Without stabilising your sleep in a way that it works for you, optimising sleep is really not possible and I’ve seen this with so many clients over the years.
In today’s video, I walk through all of these things one at a time, with a real example from a client, so you can see how I add these different pieces of information together to help a client with picking the best sleep time frame for their lifestyle.
Please also bear in mind that overcoming insomnia and sleep problems that have been around for longer time is a bit more complex than just intellectually picking a sleep time frame. But it’s a really important part of the entire plan so you train yourself to sleep well consistently for many years to come, even if your sleep time frame has to shift.
Of course, if you have any question about the things I mentioned in this video, feel free to reach out.
