How to assess your sleep problems or insomnia
How to assess your sleep problems and insomnia
In this video, we’ll talk about the 3 sleep assessment types that I use in my practice.
Some of these are good for long-term insomnia assessment or sleep problem assessment, others are not always a good first step when assessing your sleep or figuring out how to assess sleep quality.
There are a few things you have to take into account when deciding how to assess sleep patterns or sleep problems. And most of the time people are less patient with this part of overcoming their insomnia or other sleep problems.
But without a proper sleep assessment that is appropriate to the type of sleep problems you have, you’re not giving yourself the best chances of actually overcoming your struggles.
Sleep assessments or insomnia assessments vary from sleep tests at home, different sleep assessment methods, sleep assessment surveys, sleep questionnaires, online sleep assessments, in-person sleep assessments, and keeping a sleep diary for a period of time to name a few of the things that I’ve come across over the years.
But to effectively overcome your sleep problems or insomnia, this is just the first and very important step. I never skip a sleep assessment step when working with clients mainly because it often really negatively impacts our ability to get to the root cause of the problems and put in place a practical plan to actually help the client develop Sleep Skills for Life and develop great quality sleep again.
