I’ve been a sleep coach for adults for over 10 years and I’ve seen how the sleep industry has changed quite a bit over that time. Being a sleep coach for adults has been a really great way to help so many clients finally overcome their long-term insomnia and sleep problems.
Sleep coaching for adults often creates some confusion about what to even expect when you hire a sleep consultant or a sleep coach. So in today’s video, I’ll tell you what I think re the most important things to bear in mind when you want to work with a sleep coach.
Sleep coaching is quite a broad term and naturally, depending who you speak to, there will be different views on what it is and how it can help you overcome your sleep problems or insomnia.
My view is definitely going to be based on working with so many clients over the years. Sleep coaching is a very practical discipline that takes into account what you, as a client want to achieve. Setting that practical goal is a foundational part of working with any of my clients.
You can find many videos to help with insomnia but sleep coaching for adults is very different from just picking a few things to change and work on. When I work with a sleep coaching client, the most important thing is that we personalise everything we put in place. The biggest issues I see in my practice is that most people put in place general things, which is why they don’t tend to lead to developing effective sleep skills for life.
Dealing with insomnia naturally really teaches the client how to sleep well, not matter what life brings and help them to develop all the things (tools, techniques, mindsets, behaviours) they need to practically repeat that every night.
Learning how to overcome insomnia naturally without medication is completely possible and hiring a sleep coach or sleep consultant can really cut down the amount of time it takes to really actually see tangible improvement.
Of course, learning how to sleep well consistently is not rocket science! It’s much more practical and simple - when you do the right things for who you are and complexity of your sleep problems, the results are trackable and follow naturally. But general things are often simply not appropriate when your insomnia or sleep problem has been around for a long period of time.
So if you have been working on your sleep for a while but not seeing practical results, then I definitely recommend working with a suitable sleep coach or sleep consultant.
I offer a Sleep Assessment appointment to ensure that when I work with a client, we can actually really work through whatever it takes to help the person sleep well again consistently.
