There is no such thing as 'quick', 'easy' and 'effortless' but...

Of course, you can also learn those practical ways that you can overcome your sleep problems and insomnia too.

Since 2014, I have published many articles and videos to help you get to know your sleep better and overcome sleep problems and even insomnia. Some of the videos are recorded at previous talks or simply answering a question from my audience on a particular topic.

On this page, you will find the most recently published resource.

Does regular exercise help you to overcome insomnia? - Sleep Myths Debunked

It's always best to watch the entire video so that you can see the step-by-step explanation of how I use exercise in my practice helping clients.

But here are some chapters for you:

  • 00:00 Sleep Myth Introduction
  • 02:15 Teaching Sleep Skills for Life
  • 03:12 Does exercise help you overcome long-term insomnia and sleep problems?
  • 07:29 Exhaustion and exercising to push yourself
  • 11:14 Exhaustion and easing into the appropriate amount of exercise
  • 15:33 Conclusions and Personalisation

I get asked about exercise and insomnia very frequently, even during the recent live group sleep coaching call within my group sleep coaching programme called Sleep Skills for Life.

This question raises many different options and I know it’s one of the most recommended tips if you can’t sleep well. Often it’s even recommended that you ‘exhaust’ yourself before going to bed.

Can exercise help insomnia?

It is one of the myths of insomnia.

Of course, when you struggle with insomnia and working out, you know how tiring it can be to even get the motivation to start your exercise routine. Lack of sleep really impacts our motivation.

In today’s video, I walk through two different examples of how exercise and insomnia can work alongside each other in a healthier way. The reality of any long-term sleep problems and insomnia is that often answering this question is much more complex than a simple yes and no.

It is okay to exercise when you lack sleep but how and how much is really a better question to ask. If you exercise to reduce insomnia, it is very important to understand how these together may not result in the outcomes you desire.

If you have any questions about any tips, myths or advice you’ve seen online, feel free to let me know.
