Does it matter when you sleep at night ? - Sleep Myths Debunked
It's always best to watch the entire video so that you can see the step-by-step explanation I use in my practice helping clients.
But here are some chapters for you:
00:00 Introduction to the sleep myth that it doesn't matter when you sleep
01:24 Teaching Sleep Skills for Life
01:56 Shifting your sleep around depending on how you feel
04:20 Going against your body and mind's natural rhythm
08:20 Accumulative effect of a stable timeframe for your sleep
In today’s video we’ll address another sleep myth that I hear about frequently. Clients often tell me that they change their sleep around depending on how they sleep.
Of course, this is because they are doing their best to maximise the quality and quantity of their sleep but unfortunately it’s not effective to changing sleep schedule around and it doesn’t really help to overcome long-term sleep problems and insomnia.
I’m sure you’ve seen suggestions on what time to sleep a night, or what might be the best time to sleep at night, but the most important thing is to help you figure it out depending on your personal situation.
Your lifestyle and the sleep problems you have will have an influence on how you pick an appropriate and optimal time to sleep. So to help you practically figure out when to sleep or the best sleep schedule for you, we’ll walk through a couple of things I explain to my clients first.
Your body clock for sleep is quite an important thing to look at in a practical way. Often people learn about circadian rhythm but how you practically create a healthy circadian rhythm is a bit more complex than just picking a timeframe and going with it.
It’s not just about the best time but it’s also about you ability to be able to fit sleep into the timeframe that you’d like it to fit into. The best sleep schedule will work for you and will also give you the opportunity to truly optimise your sleep quantity and quality.
If you have any questions about what I shared with you in today’s video or other myths or advice you’ve seen online, feel free to let me know.
