Overactive Mind, Neurodiverse Traits and Insomnia | Speaking of Inclusion Podcast with Katie Allen
A little while ago, I had the pleasure of joining Katie Allen on her Speaking of Inclusion podcast. We had a fascinating conversation about long-term insomnia, practical sleep coaching, and why different people need different approaches to overcoming sleep problems and future proofing their great quality sleep.
In this video, I'm sharing three key parts of that conversation.
First, we explore how neurodiverse traits, personality and individual thinking styles can influence your sleep. Rather than asking what's wrong with you, we discuss why understanding how you are different can help you find a more effective way to overcome insomnia and sleep problems.
Next, we talk about why I see sleep as a set of practical skills rather than a collection of sleep tips. Learning to sleep well is a skill that can be developed, strengthened and personalised to who you are.
Finally, we look at something many people struggle with. How do you separate difficult conversations, strong emotions or a busy day from your nighttime so your mind can truly relax? This is one of the most important Sleep Skills for Life I teach my clients.
If you've been struggling with long-term insomnia, an overactive mind, or you've tried countless sleep tips without lasting success, I hope this conversation gives you a fresh perspective on what it really takes to sleep well.
